A Winter’s Candle Wreath

Filed in DIY, Thrifty Decor

wreath7

My mother’s birthday is New Year’s Eve and I wanted to make something for her this year.  I decided on a wintry candle wreath made with after-Christmas sale items from Michaels.

The supplies (you’ll see the wreath form in a later picture):

I pulled off the flowers, then pulled off the leaves.  I also either yanked off the berries or cut them with wire cutters.

I wasn’t sure where I was going with it all, but I knew I needed to cover the wreath with the leaves.  So that was the first layer.

Then I hot glued the flowers onto the leaves and glued the ornaments on the inside of the wreath between the flowers.

Finally I glued the berries in little clusters where there was space.

I even glued some berries onto the ornament openings underneath.  That made the wreath look a little less ragtag. (Unlike the hot glue strings on the left!)  :)

The candle was half off at WalMart for $1.25.  I would have rather used a lavender candle but couldn’t find one cheap enough.

The pedestal is made from a WalMart glass plate and candle holder — epoxied with E6000.

You can even stand it up on a plate stand or hang it on the wall.

My mom is one of those people who has everything.  If she wants it, she gets it.  So I hope she likes this — I think she will.

I’m sharing this post with some linky parties  . . .

That is beautiful! I still don’t have a glue gun, but I think I will be getting one soon =) It seems to be the easiest way to do crafts!
